About
The idea behind this website is to become a Brazilian music shelf. Every Wednesday I’ll publish a podcast with some artists and a little story about the featured songs. Production informations, names, curiosities behind the curtain and so on.
Meanwhile, I’ll try to make some posts regarding music. Brazilian music, mostly, but not only restricted to that.
It’ll be made from a personal point of view, of course. But what does exist in the world that is not made from a human point of view?
Hope you enjoy it,
Rodrigo Santiago.
PS: My written English is not so good. But I don’t really care, I’m a Brazilian citizen after all, and Portuguese is my native language. This is also an exercise to improve it.
Who Am I, Anyways?
My name is Rodrigo Santiago. I work as a system architect/analyst at Tecgraf, one of the major IT labs in Brazil, at PUC-Rio – Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro.
I am also poet, composer and music producer. I’ll post some of my songs here, by the time they are recorded, but this will not be the main content.
I am married with Manu Santos, an awesome singer. You can watch here here.
During my childhood, maybe during 14 or 15 years, I was Hermeto Pascoal’s neighbour. I loved his music, but as a shy boy that I was, I had never have the courage to meet him and learn his Universal Music. This is the only thing I regret from all my life. Maybe because of that, I turned myself into a hungry listener, and learned many, many things by listening the most exotic songs and most refined recordings I could find. Including Hermeto’s.
I am studying with Bia Paes Leme, who arranged many of Chico Buarque’s albums, and Guinga, maybe the best composer today in Brazil. Off course, I have my own harmony conclusions also, and I designed a method to learn faster the most important scales and progressions. I plan to structure it as an accessible method to anyone.
Yes! We have bananas. We also have steel, petroleum, gas, rice, meat etc. And the most beautiful music in the world. A mixture of many different local music movements with foreign influences. My wish is that you learn that in this blog.
